Dear Friends,

We have arrived on the precipice of the month of August.  Can you parents hear those school bells ringing soon?  I think someone mentioned that the “Back to School” ads have begun appearing.  Folks often ask if around the parish the summer months slow down.  Indeed, the pace changes a bit, but the flow of activities and work is still quite busy, as we are getting ready for the Fall.  I suspect this is so for all of us.  I pray that everyone has had or will have some time to relax and enjoy family and loved ones during these months of sunshine and warmth.

Dear Friends,

Our first reading from Genesis, follows up from last week’s.  God came down to meet Abraham who offers profound hospitality to the Lord as we heard last week.  This week the Lord hearing the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah, seeks to find out how grave are their sins.

Abraham having a filial and trusting relationship with God, intercedes for the good and just people in those towns.  He asks if the Lord will spare them if there are fifty innocent people to which the Lord says He will spare the whole place.  Abraham persists and asks in incremental fashion if lesser numbers of innocent are found, and the Lord continues to reply that He will spare.  Abraham ends his pleading with if there are ten.  And for those ten, the Lord will spare the place.

Dear Friends,

Summer is fully upon us, and as always it seems to be flying by. These months always involve a lot of cleaning and scrubbing and other projects for Holy Cross Regional. This summer is no different but there are several projects at school which will improve curriculum and allow our students the opportunity to excel in varied fields of learning. One of these is a new Innovation Lab. They also are the recipient of funding flowing from Covid spending by the government to improve the building amenities and security for all. Thanks to Mrs. Healy and all the school staff who are spearheading all these efforts.
