Dear Friends,

I am writing this on the solemn feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  A feast of great hope and encouragement for all of us.  Where our Lady has gone in both body and soul, we look forward to following her.

Magnificat publication sends me emails on a regular basis about many things as I am a subscriber.  I know that many of you are as well. Today, they sent this beautiful reflection, a quote from Saint John Paul II which I am enclosing here ~

Dear Friends,

Tomorrow is a solemn feast, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.  While the obligation to attend Mass this year on this holy day is lifted since it falls on a Monday, it is a beautiful, wonderful celebration; a reminder to us of our final destination as well as confirming the ongoing maternal help of Mary.  Masses will be celebrated at 6:30 and 9 AM.  The latter is live streamed.  May we all implore our Blessed Mother for the grace to persevere in loving Jesus more deeply and the courage to share His love with others.

Dear Friends,

Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.   Because of it the ancients were well attested.”  These are the opening words from our first reading this weekend.  Faith is often aligned with belief in doctrine, like the Creed, and yet it is so much more than that.  The other side of the coin of faith is trust.  As we allow faith to offer us evidence of things not seen, it is faith that will lead us to trust God completely.
