Dear Friends,

The Second Sunday of Advent is upon us.  Last Monday evening we held our fifth annual Christmas Tree blessing and lighting in front of Church.  What an awesome turn out of our parish family.  The biggest crowd ever.  The weather was just right.  Our singer, Sophia Chetta, led us in two hymns and a song.  Our youth ministry director, Matt Kirsch, coordinated the superb contribution of our youth in setting up, offering hot chocolate, distributing cookies and candy canes, as well as packing everything up afterwards.  Some 15 young disciples and 3 adults welcomed everyone with joy and participated in making the event such a blessed event.  Thank you to all who attended.

Dear Friends,

I pray that your Thanksgiving Day was blessed and that you are having an enjoyable weekend as well.  We have arrived at the First Sunday of Advent, the beginning of a new liturgical year.  Advent is the time of preparation, of anticipation, and of patient waiting upon the Lord.  This does not invite us to sleepiness but rather active preparation.

Dear Friends,

Last weekend we welcomed Jude Arkesh Ragel, a first Theology seminarian at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary studying here for the Archdiocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka, to talk on the annual Seminary Appeal.  Jude is only three months here in the US and is assigned to Saint Eleanor on Thursdays for his Apostolate experience.  It has been a pleasure to get to know him and we are grateful for his work here among us.
