Dear Friends,
Today is the solemnity of the Transfiguration of our Lord. Shortly before His passion, death and resurrection, Jesus led Peter, James, and John up a mountain. While in prayer, Jesus is transfigured ~ His glorious divinity shines through His human body. Moses and Elijah appear conversing with Him. Then from a cloud, the Father’s voice speaks, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”

Dear Friends,
Buried treasure, a priceless pearl, a net thrown into the sea. Imaginative, attention-grabbing images from Jesus’ teaching in this weekend’s Gospel, Matthew, chapter 13. They are thought provoking as He uses these images to teach about the Kingdom of God.
We ought to ask ourselves, what do we treasure, what is our priceless pearl, what are we seeking after or gathering up for ourselves? A few chapters before this one, when Jesus had finished teaching the Apostles the Our Father, He also instructed them not to store up treasures on earth but rather treasures in heaven, concluding with, “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”
