Dear Friends,
Last weekend we received with sadness the news of the death of Father John Franey, our pastor emeritus, and we prayed for him at our weekend Masses. His funeral Mass was celebrated here on this past Thursday by Archbishop Peréz and concelebrating priests. Father Franey served sixteen years at Saint Eleanor, during a time of significant growth within and for the parish. May he rest in peace!
Also, last weekend was the “great reveal.” Two Dollar Sunday! I spoke at all the Masses and here want to share what I said for those who were away last weekend:
Are you ready? Here we are: Two Dollar Sunday! ~
We are all personally experiencing the effects of inflation. And the parish is also.
Many of you increase your donation to the parish annually ~ thank you so very much.
Today, with the concurrence of our Finance Council, I am asking everyone to consider adding $2 to your weekly contributions.
That’s about the cost of a small coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts ~ (our Finance Director shared that information with me).
Perhaps you can give more than that ~ that is a blessing all around.
Perhaps you are unable to give at this time ~ that’s no worry.
I am grateful for all you are now doing and for whatever more you can do.
The last ask about our Sunday contributions was in 2019 (pre-Covid) and you all responded most positively and generously.
Five years later, I am asking you to review your situation and to consider an increase to our parish.
Please be assured we are employing cost-saving measures as well.
