Dear Friends,
September is always such a busy month here at Saint Eleanor. Besides the beginning of school, we have our annual Forty Hours devotions (which were so beautiful) and our parish and school Feast Day. All within the first half of the month. Also, many parish activities pick up again in full force, after the quieter summer months.
Looking at the calendar, here is a sampling ~ our men’s group, Into the Breach, will be meeting Wednesday, September 27; our women’s Walking With Purpose group begins Thursday, September 28; our Sharing Christ series begins, Monday, October 2. May I also highlight our Mass for Healing which will be celebrated on Thursday, September 28 at 7 pm in Church.
And on the last day of September, Saturday, September 30, as part of our three-year National Eucharistic Revival, our Archdiocesan Eucharistic Congress will take place all day at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, Bucks County. While this event is sold out, there is still the opportunity to sign up for the livestreaming. See elsewhere in the bulletin for those details. The line up of speakers is very impressive and the focus on understanding and worshipping Jesus really and fully present in the Most Blessed Sacrament is such a grace for all of us. Without Jesus, we cannot survive.
Next Sunday, October 1 is Respect Life Sunday which begins our annual Respect Life month. Members of our Respect Life Committee will speak very briefly before Mass and are the hosts for our First Weekend pretzels and donuts. Additionally, the 12 Noon Mass will be a Farewell Mass celebrated by Father Graebe. In addition to donuts, we will have some light refreshments in the Narthex after the Noon Mass as we wish Father Graebe every blessing in his new assignment.
Finally, these words are from our first reading this weekend, the prophet Isaiah, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts.” These words of the Lord, we ought to return to over and again. They teach us so very much as we ponder them and our ever loving and merciful Father God. Perhaps this week, each day, pray them and let them sink into your heart.
God bless you, God love you,
Monsignor McCulken
