Dear Friends,

Here it is! Our Forty Hours opens with the 12 Noon Mass and continues through Tuesday evening. Come and spend some quiet prayer time with Jesus our Lord truly and really present to us in the Most Blessed Sacrament. When we come to Him, we never leave His presence the same way as we came in. He always graces us, one way or another! Adoration visits can be made after the Noon Mass until 7 pm on Sunday. And on Monday / Tuesday, from 7 am to 7 pm (except during the celebration of Mass at 9 am). Jesus waits for you.

Father Andrew Auletta is our homilist all three nights at 7 pm. The devotions include Evening Prayer, homily, Benediction. On Tuesday evening, we will have an outdoor procession and Benediction, followed by a small social in the school lobby. These are blessed days for our parish family. Don’t miss out on the goodness of God poured forth for us in these devotions and times of prayer.

Holy Cross welcomed back grades one through eight this past Wednesday. The opening school Mass will be at the 9 am Mass on Thursday, September 14 which is the parish and the school’s patronal feast day ~ the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It is wonderful to see the children and teachers back on campus. May God bless them with every grace during this school year.

Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary has assigned once again two seminarians for this academic year as part of the seminarians’ formation. Bradly Moss, second Theology, studying for the Diocese of Lincoln, NE, and Tyler Randolph, Pre-Theology II, studying for the Diocese of Greensburg, PA. Our own Jude Arkesh Ragel has been assigned this academic year to Saint Andrew Parish, Newtown. He will be back among us during the scheduled holidays coming up during the year. On Saturday, September 16, Arkesh will receive the ministry of Lector, one of the ministries received prior to ordination to the Priesthood. Please keep all our seminarians and all our priests in your kind prayers.

Abbey Fest is once again here, Saturday, September 16. Held at the Daylesford Abbey grounds, it is an all-day festival, including spiritual and social activities for young and old, and great for families. Check it out.

That’s a lot of happenings. And we are just moving into the middle of September. There will be so much more in the weeks ahead. But be attentive to the voice of the Lord. Consciously listen with the spiritual ears of the soul for what God wants to tell you and give you. He is not distant, not far. Come and be quiet in His presence and listen attentively to all He desires for you.

God bless you, God love you,

Monsignor McCulken
