Dear Friends,
Last weekend, it was a pleasure to welcome back Father Jason Buck. It was great catching up with him and all he is doing. Father Buck spoke at all the Masses about the Seminary, its relocation, and its onetime appeal for its endowment.
While the Seminary conducts an annual appeal beginning in November for its ordinary expenses and operations, at this time they are seeking support through a onetime appeal called Building Our Future Campaign. Specifically, this campaign is focused on establishing an endowment to ensure the viability and future of the Seminary and its mission to form and educate men to be priests. A vital mission indeed. Check out the video at www.scs.edu/campaign/. Thank you for your support.
August has flown by which means that summer is quickly coming to a close. Labor Day weekend is just two weeks away. Our parish Forty Hours Devotions are only three weeks away. Looking forward to welcoming back Father Andrew Auletta who will preach each evening of the devotions.
Have you ever heard about Two Dollar Sunday? What is Two Dollar Sunday, you ask? Well, it’s coming to Saint Eleanor! When? Just keep watching and listening. More details will unfold.
From this weekend’s Scriptures, the Lord says in Isaiah, “…for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Saint Paul reminds us, “For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.” Jesus says to the Canaanite woman, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” Today and this week, let us ponder on the gift of faith, given to us at Baptism. Faith is a gift that must be exercised, utilized, and not simply left on the shelf.
How great is our faith? How deep is our relationship with the Lord Jesus? How persevering are we in prayer? In Matthew 17:20, Jesus also tells us, “Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed…” Lord Jesus, grant us such faith!
God bless you, God love you,
Monsignor McCulken
