Dear Friends,
Did you hear? Father Buck is here this weekend to talk about the Seminary’s Building Our Future Comprehensive Campaign. We joyfully welcome him back. More information about this campaign can be found on our website and envelopes are available at the church doors.
Also, do you know that Father Andrew Auletta will be visiting and preaching our parish Forty Hours Devotions, September 10, 11, 12. We look forward to welcoming him back to Saint Eleanor and are grateful that he will be preaching these devotions during this second year of our national Eucharistic Revival; a year focused on the parish and the Eucharist. Evening devotions will begin at 7 PM and include Evening Prayer, Homily, Benediction. On Closing night, we will have our traditional outdoor procession with Benediction in front of school and a simple social.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the three nights of devotions. Also mark your calendars with plans to come during these days to spend some quiet time in prayer and adoration before Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. We never leave Jesus ’presence the same way we come in. He always graces us in His own way!
Another calendar item you want to mark for September is our daylong Archdiocesan Eucharistic Congress ~ September 30, 9AM to 4 PM, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, 654 Ferry Road, Doylestown, PA. The theme is: “The Gift of Finest Wheat: This is My Body Given Up for You.” Speakers include Bishop Michael Burbidge, Mrs. Antonia Acutis (Mother of Blessed Carlo Acutis); Dr. Edward Sri; Sr. Jane Dominic Laurel, OP; Rev. G. Dennis Gill; Rev. Rafael Capó; Rev. Eder Estrada, F.M.; Rev. Michael Depcik, OSFS and more!
This will be a day of encounter with Jesus ’infinite love for us in the Eucharist. It begins with Mass at 9 AM with Archbishop Pérez and concludes with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 4 PM. The talks will go on throughout the day with tracks in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. There will also be a College Track, Teen Track (ages 13-17), and a Children’s Track (ages 6-12).
Some additional information ~ meals will not be served, so please bring your own lunch. Cost is $25 per person for Adults; no charge for clergy and youth under age 18. Planning to attend, please register at: phillyeucharisticrevival.org/congress
Finally, this Tuesday, August 15, is the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, a holy day of obligation. Masses for the holy day will be on Tuesday at 6:30, 9 AM, 12:05, and 7 PM. Many shore points continue the custom of a blessing of the sea on this beautiful feast of our Lady. The tradition dates to the fifteenth century in Italy. If you’re at a shore point, try to be a part of this tradition. And be sure to put your feet into the blessed ocean waters.
God bless you, God love you,
Monsignor McCulken
