Dear Friends,
As you most likely are aware, the beautiful grand piano that we have been using since February is due to be returned to the company, Jacobs Music in Philadelphia. We had entered into a short-term lease with them for it. It is a very fine musical instrument.
Out of the blue, on Palm Sunday, two different parishioners at two different Masses approached me and asked if the piano could be purchased by Saint Eleanor and that they were both very willing to donate towards such a purchase. Several days later at the parish office, another parishioner also expressed the same sentiment and interest.
This was exciting news. We have checked into this possibility and are very happy to share that this particular piano is available for purchase. One of our parishioners has already pledged a very significant commitment. We are truly blessed.
In light of this interest from our parishioners and considering the ongoing needs for our Sacred Music ministry, we are establishing a Sacred Music Fund here at Saint Eleanor. The first focus of this fund is the purchase of the piano. But there are other needs as well to consider. Such as ongoing maintenance of the instrument, the costs associated with procuring copies of music used throughout the year at our Masses and Services, and a down the road need to replace the organ which I am told is rather old.
So, now I am inviting interested parishioners to donate, now and in the future, to our newly established Sacred Music Fund. You could do so in memory of a loved one or just because of your interest in our Sacred Music ministry. The funds will be used strictly for our Sacred Music ministry needs.
For our electronic donors (E-givers), you will find a line item for your donation to this fund online. If you wish to donate by check or cash, please put it into a separate envelope and write on it Sacred Music Fund. Thank you for your kind consideration and interest in our worship of the Lord through music.
This past Sunday, Divine Mercy Sunday, included additional joy for several of our brothers and sisters and for our parish family. At the 10:30 Mass, Lynne Szatkowski, Deanne Dimarco, and Brian Freas were received into full Communion with the Catholic Church and received Confirmation and Holy Communion; Sean Buruschkin received Confirmation and Holy Communion; and Joe Bucara received Confirmation. It was a very blessed event. We give thanks to God for each of them and for their openness to God as they received His graces through the Sacraments of the Church. We look forward to April 30 at the 12 Noon Mass as three more adults will be receiving their Sacraments.
God bless you, God love you,
Monsignor McCulken
