Dear Friends,
Here we are at the end of August with Labor Day next weekend. Those school bells are ringing… The Holy Cross teachers will be arriving this Tuesday, August 30 for their retreat and Wednesday for their new school year Organizational Day. The students will return September 7 and the opening school Mass will be September 14, 9 AM. It is the feast day for both the parish and the school, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
Of course, now is the season when so many things are getting into high gear ~ meetings, activities, projects. Our Pastoral Council, Implementation Committee, Tithing the Tithe Committee will all be meeting along with the start up again of our men’s group ~ Into the Breach. Walking with Purpose and Sharing Christ are also getting ready to initiate their new season. One can get tired just looking at all that is already on the calendar.
With the Fall season now coming upon us, allow me to give a shout out to our Worship ministries: our Ambassadors, our Lectors, our Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, our Cantors, Organists, Choirs, our Altar Servers. Thank you all for your faithful involvement. A parish exists to worship God which is our first responsibility as God’s children.
As the numbers returning to worship in person grows, each of these ministries would benefit from you becoming actively involved. Each is different and each contributes so much to building together our vibrant worship of the Lord, and strengthening our parish family in being welcoming, joyful, all in, and contagiously faithful disciples in this part of God’s Kingdom. Looking forward to hearing from you and what you will do this year the Lord and for our parish family. Let us know.
Our Forty Hours devotions are just around the corner ~ September 11-13. Forty Hours begins on Sunday, September 11 at the Noon Mass. There will be evening devotions each night at 7 PM with an outdoor procession of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday night. Father Louis Monica is our guest preacher. These devotions are always such a blessing to us. God is never outdone in generosity. Be sure to sign up and spend some quiet time with our Lord during these days. We all need to be with the Lord.
Our priests, deacons, and parish staff wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and enjoyable upcoming Labor Day weekend!
God bless you, God love you,
Monsignor McCulken
