Dear Friends,
Last weekend was a truly glorious feast day of Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The mystery of Jesus’ full, real, and substantial presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament is foundational to our Faith, to our very lives. To spend time pondering this awesome mystery and to place ourselves into Jesus’ embrace in the Holy Eucharist brings profound insight, instills hope, and gives strength for the journey through this chaotic world. Thank you to all who made the driving procession of the Eucharist possible. Thank you all who were able to stand along the way of the procession giving your witness of faith to Jesus.
As I am writing this column, our first ever Cantor Camp is in progress and the final preparations for our Monumental Kids’ Camp are underway. How wonderful that these youngsters are able to experience and grow joyfully in the faith here at our parish. I am grateful to all our parish staff for the work and effort that go into preparing and hosting these events.
Our newly ordained parochial vicar, Father Graebe arrived last Sunday afternoon and is getting acquainted with everyone and our parish. You will be seeing lots of him in the days, and years ahead. We welcome him warmly and look forward to his priestly ministry among us.
Next weekend will bring us to the Fourth of July. I pray that you, your loved ones, and all of us will have a blessed and peace-filled holiday weekend and holiday. Pray for our country, for our world, for all who suffer due to acts of violence, war, prejudice. So many in our world are hurting in so many ways. We need to turn to Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist and implore His help, protection, strength, and guidance for the future. He alone is “the way and the truth and the life.”
God bless you, God love you,
Monsignor McCulken
