Dear Friends,

Pentecost Sunday, last weekend, was most inspiring.  It is a profound feast and extraordinary reminder of who we become through Baptism and Confirmation, as God dwells within our souls.  Adding to the joy of the feast was the return of two newly ordained who served here during their Seminary years, Father Sang Woo Chi, and Deacon Anthony Albanese at the 12 Noon Mass.  And then, the parish Pentecost picnic in our parking lot was very awesome.  The good weather allowed for fun, games, festivities, food, and a good time.  Thanks to the Young Adult ministry members who organized the event.

This weekend at the 12 Noon Mass we have Father Giardini’s farewell and reception.  Father will be with us another week, but June 19 is Corpus Christi Sunday and our Eucharistic procession, thus we pick this weekend for Father.  It is moment of sadness to say farewell.  Father has offered us so much during his three years here.  Three unique years spanning the pandemic.  His deep prayer life, inspiring homilies, his caring nature for both young and old, and more have touched us deeply.

We know that all these qualities and his gifts will be of great benefit to the high school students at Pope John Paul.  And he is moving to Limerick, not too far away.  We pray for every blessing upon Father as he makes this transition, and we thank him for his faithful and dedicated priestly ministry here.  By the way, Father’s birthday is Friday, June 17 ~ a big one.  Be sure to extend Birthday greetings.

Next Sunday, our Corpus Christi procession will again be by car through parish neighborhoods after the 12 Noon Mass.  More information and details will be coming.  Last year it was a very beautiful celebration and procession.  Pray for good weather.

The graduation of our students from Holy Cross Regional Catholic this past week was impressive in so many ways.  We wish them and all who are graduating on any level, God’s blessings and much success.  Holy Cross will be ending the school year this Tuesday with attendance at the 9 AM Mass.  Other schools are coming to their ending as well ~ I guess it is time for summer to begin in earnest.

I hope everyone will be able to get some rest and relaxation during these summer months.  Stay close to our Lord, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing.  He loves us with a love beyond all human understanding.

God bless you, God love you,

Monsignor McCulken
