Women's Guild – Pray, Eat, Chat
Saint Eleanor Women's Guild started in 1950, rooted in faith, hospitality, social events, and fundraising.
History
June 1950 Mrs. Elizabeth Bieber interviewed women of St. Eleanor to see if they would support a Women’s Club so that they may become better acquainted and render assistance to the Pastor. After securing Fr. O’Neill’s permission, Mrs. Bieber called a meeting Thursday June 15, 1950 – 40 women were present. November 1950 there were 96 members. This group of ladies raised money for a stove and television for the school from hosting a turkey supper, home parties, merchandise club, gift wrapping and dying Easter eggs. In 1953 they added a fashion show, their first covered dish and the meetings were moved from Thursday to Tuesday.
The Women's Guild was the first parish organized group and the first Home and School Association for Saint Eleanor School.
Over the years we have been known for the Christmas Bazaar, Ham Dinners, Spaghetti Dinners, assisting with the Carnival, hosting the Mother Daughter Tea and Mother Son Date Night.
Current
74 years later, we kept the rich history and tradition of meeting monthly to discuss our faith, share in fellowship and stewardship.
We meet on the 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 in Vianney Hall with homemade refreshments and themed meetings. We host the Lenten Supper and twice a year prepare dinner for St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter in Phoenixville.
We're always looking for new friends to share in our Ministry. All ladies of Saint Eleanor are invited to join us.
Or simply stop by on the 3rd Tuesday of the month - Vianney Hall at 6:30 p.m. Check the weekly bulletin for updated information about meetings.
